Progress Update #13: February roundup
We’re writing this on an unseasonably warm February morning in London.
The sun is in the sky and from our office window we can see London gleaming.
Here’s the news from the past few weeks.
Shortlisted for National Technology Award
We’re delighted to say we’ve been shortlisted for a National Technology Award, in the ‘Innovation of the Year’ category. It’s very exciting to have two nominations for major UK tech awards in just a few months. Now we’ll need two ball gowns each instead of one.
In their own words, the Nat Tech awards “celebrate the pioneers of new technology and help drive standards and encourage excellence”. It’s a huge compliment to have been recognised. You can check out the full shortlist here (our category is at the top of the list).
Rushd at the Richmond Blockchain& Data Science Meetup
Earlier this month, Rushd was invited to give a talk at the Richmond Blockchain & Data Science Meetup.
The Meetup is a highly focused group of entrepreneurs and technologists who meet once a month in south west London. We had a great evening and met a lot of people doing great work in the space.
BABB on the BBC
If you blinked you would have missed us, but we made our first appearance on BBC News this month!
We were mentioned as part of an article about UK fintech companies deepening their relationships with Lithuania and its regulators. It’s an interesting read if you haven’t already.
Changes to Telegram
You will have noticed that the team is on Telegram less than we used to be, as we shift our focus inwards during this important time.
We have decided to decommission BABB Community and BABB equity crowdsale groups — they won’t be deleted, just muted.
The groups will be muted on 10pm Thursday 28th February.
Our community is about to transition from one of token holders and equity investors into one of customers. Telegram is no longer the right place for us to spend our time and energy.
We plan to create a new community of BABB customers once the product is live. This community is likely to be based on our own site and other social media, rather than Telegram. More details to come, so watch this space.
We are aware of a new unofficial BABB Chat group which might be a good place to consider joining as an alternative in order to continue to discuss the project and its progress.
We will also continue sharing our news via the BABB Announcements channel, and if you need technical assistance you can still email hello@getbabb.com.
We’ve had a great time getting to know many of you on Telegram, and we’re sad to see this chapter of our story coming to an end. We’d like to thank all of the brilliant AmaZix mods who have done such a fantastic job keeping you informed, and for inspiring many fantastic conversations over the past year.
