BABB’s COO, Dr. Demetrios Zamboglou attended Web Summit in Lisbon, Portugal on the 4th of November 2019 to prove, or disprove, some of our future thinking on tech innovation and Blockchain banking.
Web Summit, which is the largest tech conference in the world with more than 70,000 attendees, 1,200+ speakers from 190 countries all ready to network and to do business on a global scale.
Web Summit brings together thousands of CEOs, investors and startup entrepreneurs every year, it’s a place where people meet up, explore partnerships, raise brand profiles, and start conversations that are going to shape the future of technology.
BABB wanted to validate our thinking on the current and future technology landscape, participate in workshops, and question the status quo.
There is no better way to validate hypotheses than discussing fundamental challenges with leaders and experts from around the world. Amongst the discussion points were hot topics such as:
- “Building Calibra and increasing access to the global economy” from Kevin Weil, VP of Product, (Calibra Facebook)
- “None left behind: Making tech work for the many” from Tony Blair, Former Prime Minister of Great Britain.
Interestingly, just like BABB, Tony Blair is on a mission to support developing countries and shares many of our values, especially when it comes to supporting underserved communities across the world.
This year the event featured high profile speakers from leading global tech companies such as CEO of Huawei, Guo Ping, President of Microsoft Corporation, Brad Smith, Google Sustainability Officer, Kate Brand, and Amazon CTO, Werner Vogels among many others. The future is digital, and it is imperative for any company that wants to disrupt traditional industries and incumbent providers through the creative use of technology.
BABB is humble but bold and we endeavour to stay at the cutting edge of technological development — it was great to be surrounded by so many people from across the world who share the same view, passion, and want to create a world where tech is used for good.
Web Summit is regarded to be one of the best technology conferences on the planet and is an event where ideas are born and fostered by tech industry leaders. We are looking forward to using the new insights gained at Web Summit to further enhance our proposition and explore additional avenues through new partnerships.
